U.S. HIGHWAY BRIDGES

Bayonne Bridge - Between Bayonne, NJ & Staten Island, NY.  One of the longest steel arch bridges in the world consisting of  5,780 feet of bridge with 1,675 feet of arch span.

Big Mac - The Mighty Mac Bridge, the Mackinac Bridge, connects the Upper & Lower peninsulas of Michigan.  See these day & night photos of  this 5 mile long bridge.

Brooklyn Bridge - Roebling's suspension bridge over the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY.  This bridge has both suspenders and cable stays.  The Brooklyn Bridge celebrated its 120th birthday this year.

Blue Water Bridge -  Over the St. Clair river between Port Huron, MI and Land Point Edward, Ontario at the southern end of Lake Huron.

Bunker Hill Bridge - Boston's Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge was dedicated October 6, 2002.  This is the world's widest cable stayed bridge. 

Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel - Breathtaking.

Delaware Memorial Bridge - World's longest twin suspension bridge.   

Florida Bridges -  Several bridges in FL.  

Founders Bridge - [TBD] Spans the Connecticut River at the Capitol City of Hartford, CT.

George Washington Bridge - Crosses Hudson River between Manhattan, NY and Fort Lee, NJ.  Magnificent 14 lane two-level suspension bridge with a span of 3,500 feet.

Goethals Bridge - Spans Arthur Kill between Elizabeth, NJ & Staten Island, NY.  Memorial to Gen. Goethals who built the Panama Canal.  Photos and descriptive diagram.

Greater New Orleans Bridges - Oil painting of the Crescent City bridges and  the Bridge of Lions into St. Augustine, FL.   You have to scroll way down to find it. 

Golden Gate Bridge - San Francisco, CA.  Historic and current photos  about the bridge.  Completed in 1937 with 4,200 feet of main span.

Lake Pontchatrain Causeway - This world's longest bridge is 24 miles long.  The Causeway connects Jefferson Parish near New Orleans, LA on the South Shore with St. Tammany Parish on the North Shore.  Includes Causeway Cam. 

London Bridge AZ - Original moved from London to Lake Havasu, AZ 

NY State Bridge Authority bridges - Rip Van Winkle;  Mid-Hudson; Kingston-Rhine Cliff; Newburg Beacon; and Bear Mountain bridges.

Newport Bridge -Suspension bridge connects Newport and Jamestown, Rhode Island..        

New River  Bridge - Spanning New River in WV with an arch spanning 1700 feet. The world's longest single arch steel span and the 2nd highest in U.S.  Remember the pickup truck tied to a bungee cord that went off of this bridge ? Once a year they jump.

Ogden Prescott Bridge - Crosses St. Lawrence Seaway connecting Ogdensburg, NY with Johnstown in Canada..

Ortega River - Jacksonville, FL 1927 vintage design rolling lift bridge rehabilitation.

Outerbridge Crossing - Named for 1st head of Port Authority of NY & NJ. Leads to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.

 Peace Bridge - Connecting Buffalo, NY and Ft. Erie, Ontario.

Portland, OR Bridges - Highway and railroad bridges over the Columbia and Willamette rivers. 

Royal Gorge Bridge - Over the Arkansas River at Pikes Peak, CO.  The world's highest suspension bridge at a height of 1,053 feet.

San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge - Repaired after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, then repaired.

Sunshine Bridge - Florida's finest.  This is a beautiful suspension bridge. 

Thousand Islands Bridge -[TBD] Crosses the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Verrazano Narrows Bridge -[TBD]

   Kentucky - The 13 remaining covered bridges

    North Carolina - Bunker Hill Covered Bridge, the last of two.

    Philadelphia - The last covered bridge in Philly
